Question: I had a colonoscopy yesterday. today i am having severe lower back pain. i spoke to the doctor who did the colonoscopy and all he said was it is not related, but i had no pain prior to. i read that this could be air trapped in the colon. my question is, if it is air trapped in the colon, would that cause lower back pain?
Brief Answer:
No, this is not a colon issue symptom.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
It is really hard for any colon disease or issue to cause lower back pain. Due to gas being trapped you should rather have bloating, cramps, lower left abdominal pain.
So, no, air trapped in the colon is not the reason of lower back pain.
Lower back pain can be related to the position in which you were during the colonoscopy. Especially if it was done in sedation. This could cause spine problems like spine disc herniation. Such pain usually radiates to the leg.
Lower back pain can be also caused by urinary tract infection. If so, you should also have frequent urinating and burning while urinating.
So if your pain radiates to one leg, please consult orthopedist.
If you have urinating problems, urine analysis should be done.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
