Brief Answer:
The kidney pain should be evaluated.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

Yes, I think the kidney area pain should be evaluated as to the cause. The diarrhea may be separate but may also be related.

If the kidney pain is severe then you should go to the ER, but otherwise do go to either your doctor or an urgent care clinic. It is not normal to have kidney pain, and it could be a symptom of a stone, and if you have any fever or nausea, could be an infection. It also may not be in your kidney itself but referred pain.

So I think this needs to be sorted out and the only way to do this is with an exam (to see if the pain is in the kidney or nearby muscle, etc), urinalysis, CBC, and possibly imaging studies (such as an Xray). The doctor can also examine your abdomen at that time too, given the diarrhea.

So yes, do go in to be seen. If possible, please let me know how you are doing after you have been evaluated.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information or clarification.
