What Causes Severe Itching In Eyes At Night?

Question: For the past week my eyes have been itching really bad mostly at night. It looks like my lacrimal caruncle extended for lack of better terms.it feel like there is something in my eye but I rinsed my eyes with water and used eye drops but it doesn't help. If I take allergy relief medicine my eyes don't itch.if you could help me it would be great.
