Question: Hi Doctor,

I have pain in right year since yesterday. It has increased a bit today. If I don't touch the ear then, I don't feel pain as such. The pain is mainly in ear hole. When I tried to use an ear bud the pain increases as the bud enters the ear. Pls advise.

Brief Answer:
your having an ear infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello

From your complaints it looks like you are having an external ear infection. This is most likely due to the use of ear buds and recurrent probing.

Please do not use any ear buds as this will increase the pain and infection.

The best hing would be to meet an ent doctor, who will clean the ear and start you on antibiotics for the infection.

There is another pack called as icthymol-glycerol pack, which can be inserted in the ear canal and reduce the pain and swelling. This can done by your ent doctor

In the meantime you can start paracetamol 500mg 2-3 times a day for the pain.

You should also keep the ear dry and prevent any water entry into the ear as this will worsen the infection.

Take care
