Question: My 6 year old daughter has a horrible cough & while sleeping projectile vomited all over her bed. She says her stomach is hurting off & on. The vomit smelled like poop, we thought at first the cat had pooped in her bed.. No fever.. Should I be concerned? Her cough is quite hard so I thought maybe she forcefully threw up everything she ate.. Also before bed about 4 hours ago she took melatonin..

Brief Answer:
Post cough vomiting s common - Don't worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi...coming to your queries -

1. Vomiting after OK intense cough is quite common. Nothing try o worry about it.

2. Semidigested food in stomach when it is vomited will smell like that abnormally. Nothing to worry about it too.

As you say there is no fever, you need not worry.

At the same time if there is fast breathing or respiratory distress or if you feel she has aspirated while vomiting then you need to be concerned and see physician.
