What Causes Severe Cough At Night?

Question: Ive had a bad cough for about a month and a half. Its mostly at night. I have to sit up when it starts and drink something or feel like im going to choke. I have no fever or chills. shortness of breath at times.
Last thrusday I had chest pains. Also almost everyday around 1 or 2 i feel like i can just fall asleep at work.

By your history and description, we should definitely rule out asthma in your case.
Your symptoms like night time cough, choking, chest pain etc are more suggestive of asthma.
So get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
If PFT is showing obstructive defect then possibility of asthma is more.
