What Causes Severe Abdominal Pain?

default
Posted on Mon, 13 Apr 2015
Question: I have severe pain in my abdomen. It feels like the pain derives from muscles as opposed to a stomach ache.I recently had a colonoscophy which revealed no problems. My abdomen is very hard and merely touching it increases the pain. Is this a sign of impacted bowel or something more serious?

Brief Answer:
Need evaluation at the earliest...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

From what you describe abdominal area is extremely tender to touch. If it is so, then the condition warrants immediate medical attention. If the pain is tolerable, then could you answer some of my questions which will help me understand the problem better:
1. Since how long are you in pain?
2. Which part of the area hurts ? We can divide abdomen into above - below; right and left with respect to belly button?
3. Is it distented and bloated?
4. Did you pass stool and flatus today? If not, when did you last pass stool?
5. Can you describe the pain in your words? You can use terms such as dull ache, burning pain, crampy pain etc., for reference.
6. Are you running fever? Do you have nausea/vomiting/loose stool?

Awaiting your reply...

Regards
