What Causes Sensitive Spots On Scalp?

Posted on Sat, 3 Jan 2015
Question: I have been having like really sensitive spots on my scalp for a few months now. This has begun after a few months of headaches almost every day. I have gone to multiple doctors for this issue. My first doctor had told me that my headaches were coming from a common cold. After about a month of cold medicine and no changes, i went to another doctor who told me it could be from a sinus infection caused by allergies. He gave me antibiotics and a steroid shot for that. Then after that didnt work i went to another doctor who thought that it could be tension headaches because my neck muscles were really tight. This was about four weeks ago, and thats when the sensitive spots on my scalp started. They kind of move around, and sometimes are just like pain. Sometimes it hurts when i touch it. Sometimes it just feels sensitive and sometimes if feels like the hair is being pulled when i touch the sensitive area. I went to a chiropractor to get my back fixed hoping to get rid of the tension headaches. After three weeks of treatment, the chiro is saying that my neck and back are doing a lot better, but my headaches and sensitive spot issues are still around. I had thought that it could possibly have been my wisdom teeth, but then I got them out like 3 weeks ago and I am still having a lot of headaches and the sensitive spots are still around. They have been gone for like the past 3 days, but I have felt serious sinus pressure in my face over the past few days as well. But then when I woke up this morning I have a sensitive spot again in like the front center of my scalp. Its almost like the way I sleep and the way my hair is sitting on my head affects the sensitive spots. What do you think is wrong with me? I am really scared that I have a brain tumor or something!!!

Thank you for writing back!

Giant cell and cranial arteritis occur when one or more arteries become inflamed, swollen, and tender. The cause of the condition is unknown. It is believed to be due in part to a faulty immune response.

This is not serious disease but if diagnosed and not treated early might lead to long term health issue.

Brief Answer:
Yes, nothing serious if you get treated early

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir!

If it is cranial arteritis, it is inflammation of blood vessels due to unknown cause, not due to tumor. Go ahead and get evaluated for the same.

Do not worry.

Thank you so much writing back!
