Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. I would like to ask you few more details.
What is the age of baby?
Is there any associated ear pain?

Kindly get back to me with details.

As such loud noise (normal conversation- 60 decibels, loud noise 60-100 decibels, fireworks- more than 100 db). Anything more than 85 db is danger can cause temporary hearing damage, but after a transit, hearing comes back to normal. In case of permanent damage (high in intensity, frequency and duration) hearing will not came back.

To rule out the damage you need to consult an ENT surgeon and give get detailed ENT examination and (audiometry), If necessary, BERA (Brain stem evoked response) in toddlers (audiometry cannot be done in babies).

Hello again,

Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up.

Yes. There are reports shown that simple kiss on ear or screaming with various pitches can harm baby's hearing apparatus.

Do not worry. Audiometry (special type) can be done in 10 months old baby. Have a consultation with an ent surgeon. He/she will guide you.

Hope, I have answered your query.

Take care.

Brief Answer:
painless procedure

As such, detecting minimal hearing loss in babies is a big task. It can be proved only through investigations (audiometry). It is a painless procedure, done by an audiologist.

Suspicions (hearing loss) should be cleared. Kindly evaluate.

Take care.
