What Causes Rigors Along With Low Grade Fever?

default
Posted on Tue, 6 Dec 2016
Question: My husband came down with a sudden chill and shaking and it took about 30 minutes to stop it - I had to cover him with several blankets and sit very close to warm him up. We had a normal day out running errands and had a little Chinese food for dinner. His temp is 99.9 orally. His joints are achey - all came on very quickly after we got home - no other symptoms

Brief Answer:
needs workup and management

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Rigors and chills with low grade fever of 99.9 degrees should be evaluated for the likely cause. Infections of urinary tract or stomach flu etc should be ruled out. Chinese food recently might have food poisoning effect on his bowels. Get your husband to a doctor, they will advise some labs to find any focus of infection that could explain these chills and manage supportively with some tylenol and if need be antibiotics.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
