What Causes Redness In Septum?

default
Posted on Fri, 9 May 2014
Question: My seven yr old daughter has been twitching her nose for 2 months, so I finally looked inside and was horrified to see that her septum looks as if there is no skin on it. It is red and raw with a whitish scab and what appears to be pus. We went on a vacation in February to Paradise Island Bahamas where the children swam constantly in the pools. My son developed plantar fasciitis (warts) on his foot. Could this be what is wrong with my daughters nose?

Brief Answer: hi , upper respiratory tract infection. Detailed Answer: Hi, in my opinion, your daughter has upper respiratory tract infection. Septum is covered with mucosa not skin. When there is infection there will be mucosal congestion which will appear red in color. Mucous in nose will be coating the septum which looks like white scab. If I were your treating doctor I would have advised penicillin antibiotics with decongestant nasal drops and tablet. These are prescription medicines so would advise you to consult ENT specialist and get her treated. Change of place, weather, water, intake of cold items would cause this. Hope I have answered your query. Don't worry, your daughter will be fine....thanks.....
