What Causes Redness And Whitish Ring On Penis?

Question: Hi, I wanted to know see if my 1 week old son might have an infection on his circumcised penis? Please see the attached two photos. I am not sure what that outer white ring may be as well as any uncommon redness? Please let me know, thank you

I appreciate your concern

The white ring and surrounding heaping is due to excess granulation tissue which is part of the healing process. The granulation formed is a bit more than normal. Betadin solution wet gauze should be applied thrice a day along with mupirocin ointment. If the granulation persists or increases after 3 days of topical treatment then oral antibiotics course of amoxicillin plus clavulanate can be advised in consultation with your doctor.
