Question: I really dont think that it is dermititis as there is no skin irritation no sores no flakey, dry, skin rareley itchy and would there be a different diagnosis if i had answered yes to question 7 Sorry to question your diagnosis its just that my Husband is my world but he is very strong willed n stubborn we have been together 11yrs married for 4yrs and he has been to the Dr twice and that is only because he really really had to and it took alot to get him there. Over 20 yr ago from the age 15 - 30 he used Herion, witch i think has damaged the reseptors and endorfines in him giving him a pain threshold like no other.

Hi my dear,

I understand your worries about the health problems of your husband.

I was going through the photos you provided and it might be due to what we call stasis dermatitis. However, metabolic diseases should be ruled out first:

1. diabetes: monitoring of blood sugar levels is advised to rule it out
2. leg's veins insufficiency: Doppler ultrasound is recommended
3. liver issues: as he has a previous history of using Heroin
4. peripheral neuropathy : EMG and other neurological examinations to rule it out

Let me know what medications have you used so far?

The reddish purple colour started in my husbands feet first about 3mths ago and slowly migrated up his leg the swelling started in the last month and half firstly randomly short burst but within the last 3 weeks it seems that the swelling goes up n down but never completely away in the last week he noticed a few little pimple like sores weeping a little. I have manged to put compression socks on him for the past 4 days and have made a prop for him to elevate his legs when ever he is sitting or laying down. I have been harping at him for some time but it has only been the past week as it is really starting to hurt him and me talking with you all that he is starting to listen so thank you to you all as i have fingers crossed got him going to a Dr hopefully today.

Great to hear you'll see a doctor by today...All the best!

Detailed Answer:
Hi back my dear,

If you have not consulted with the doctor so far, then, it is better to consult with him as soon as possible:
- dermatologist to evaluate his skin spots
- angiologist to evaluate the status of his leg's blood vessels

Keep a good hygiene locally to your husband's legs until you see the doctor!
All the best to you and your husband!
