What causes red sore spot on chin?

Posted on Mon, 21 Jul 2014
Question: once or twice a year I get a sore on my chin. It starts out as a sore spot (same place each time) gets red and after about two days if feels like there is a zit under the skin. Then the red area gets bigger and swells out. Then it starts to ooze a clear liquid and forms a crust patch like a scab. Then it gets a little bigger and forms more crust. The crust comes off with out causing the skin to break or bleed. Then the swelling goes down after 8-10 days but the area is still sensitive for 10-14 days

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same .
Now from the description, it looks like either you are developing recurrent episodes of herpes or it is a sebaceous cyst with recurrent infections .
I would like to have a look at the exact skin lesions before we can be sure of the skin condition .
Please click some close up pictures of the skin condition and upload them here on this page .
Also please tell what all have you been applying over it?
Any associated pain or itching?
Do you take any treatment for it?
Is there any residual scars after the lesions settle down?
Do you notice any black spot called punctum at the area?

I am sure I will be able to help you more once you provide me the above details and the pictures .
