What Causes Red Scratch Marks On Stomach And Waist Area?

Question: my son 19, has red scratch like marks on stomach and waist area about 1 to 3 inch long, they dont hurt kind of look like stretch marks except red what is it. not sure how long he's had it he wont really say.

These marks can appear in a person who has experienced rapid increases in the skin tension, like body size, or due to repeated movement of skin leading to a damage to fibrous structures of skin (as in sports persons)

1 Ensuring that further stretch on skin is avoided

2 Refrain from use of steroidal preparations

3 Improving blood circulation to the area by mild massaging to facilitate recovery

4 To bring the body weight within normal range as this would help in avoiding undue stretch on abdominal skin.
