What Causes Red Patches In Right Inner Thigh When Diagnosed With Erythrasma?

default
Posted on Thu, 9 Jun 2016
Question: I have developed red patches in right inner thigh and a dermatologist has stated it as erythrasma. The dermatologist prescribed candid dusting powder (continuous spray until cure), glenmark pharma product, xyzal tablet 5 mg after food at night & onabet cream only once in night before sleep. Ten days over, the doctor said that continue powder until it becomes normal. But the instruction on powder says beyond 7 days if symptoms does not reduce, see physician. Blood report perfect and no diabetes. No other problems. Doctor said infection is only on skin and not in blood hence no antibiotic required. Redness and patches still continue, but no itching or other discomfort. How much time to continue powder - is it necessary to do until it totally dries up. There is some wetness still in the inner thigh.

Brief Answer:
You can continue with the powder till the infection resolves

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have gone through your complaints and you need to continue with the medicines.
The duration of treatment varies from patient to patient but you should continue with the powder till the infection resolves completely.
There is no need to stop the powder after 10 days.
I hope to have answered your query and would be happy to clarify any further doubts.

Dr Asmeet
