What Causes Red Itchy Labia?

default
Posted on Mon, 25 Aug 2014
Question: I am red and itchy on my labia. The dr prescribed diflucan and it did not help. I talked to them over the phone so wasn't seen. What can help with the itching? Is this something other than yeast infection. My husband and I have been using lubricants during sex and I wondered if this has irritated me

Brief Answer:
Please, pause with the lubricant!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this itch and redness you have reported. Diflucan is a good drug to take care of vaginal fungal infection. With a failed trial of treatment, this is less likely to be caused by fungal. I will suggest that you stop using the lubricant and see what change that makes. I believe this is the most likely cause of these symptoms.

If this makes no change, then I will advise that you go in for examination and maybe testing to see what else could be the cause of these symptoms.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
