What Causes Red Itchy Bumps On Inner Thighs, Knees And Buttocks?

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Mar 2015
Question: I have been getting itchy bumps, most of the time they are red and are more common on the inner thighs, knees, and butt cheeks. They are most itchy in the morning or in the shower... and often I will itch them until they are raw and scab. Sometimes there are red spots associated also, almost like tiny ingrown hairs except they aren't. Thinking about getting a new bed but doesn't seem like the bed bug bites I see in the pictures online.

Brief Answer:
You need clinical assessment to rule out scabies

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through the details. There seems to be two broad possibilities to consider - scabies and fungal infection. You need to be examined clinically to be able to distinguish between the two.

In case it us scabies, you will have to undergo proper antiscabies treatment following which things would be fine again. Without it, changing bed will not help.

Hope that helps.
