What Causes Red Dots On Hands And Feet?

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Mar 2015
Question: Hello, I am on buisness travel in Germany at the moment. for a few weeks I have gotten little red dots on my hands every now and again, I always assumes it was from winter weather and being dried out. When I left on Friday I noticed these bumps again, came and went, then Monday I got some on my feet, yesterday on my bottom legs, and today on my hands and all up my legs very bad. I stopped at a drug store and took an anti-histamine about 2 hours ago but should I do anything else?

Brief Answer:
Picture of little red dots on skin are needed....

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

Can you please upload a photo of the little red dots you are having on your hands and feet and bottom legs?

Until I have the photo in, possible causes include:
- allergy
- scabies especially if you share your personal utensils or towels with others
- fungal infection

The photo will help me run into final conclusions.

However, if the little dots will disappear after taking anti-histaminic drug, then, there is no need for further things. Keep a good hygiene locally, avoid using new soaps or detergents.

You can also apply local antihistaminic lotion (containing promethasine). Can buy at the local drug store.

Hope it was of help! Looking forward to have the requested photos in!

Brief Answer:
Hives noted, continue antihistamine and promethazine for next 2 days...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Thank you for providing the requested photo.

I have gone through it and noted the red dots which appear to be hives. They might have developed due to
- new foods you might have consumed while staying in Germany
- dust, detergents or cosmetics used

Continue taking antihistamine orally for the next couple of days together with applying promethazine or cortizone cream locally.

It will be gone after 2 days. If it will persist, should go to ER.

Hope it was of help!

Brief Answer:
Allergy is still there,it will be completely settled when back home...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

The appearance of new red dots is indicating that the allergy is still there. It will take a few more time to completely disappear.

Once you'll be back home, everything will be settled. Continue the antihistamine medication as advised together with local promethazine or hydrocortisone cream.

All the best! Have a nice trip back home!
