What Causes Red Bumps On The Back Of Tongue Post Sinusitis?

default
Posted on Tue, 11 Aug 2015
Question: Dear Dr. Mintz,

I have been both to my primary and had an outside ENT consult because of these large red bumps on the back of my tongue. Both physicians said my "inflammed/enlarged"- (post sinus infection) of circumvallate papillae are smaller now, but still there? How long does it take to get fully resolved, please? Also my right tonsil is enlarged and was told that could take up to 6 months? Do I need a tonsillectomy or surgery for this problem? I've been eating yogurt, rinsing with baking soda, eating garlic, and take daily ASA in the am's, and follow up with Benadryl 12.5-25 mg a day, usually at night... thanks for your advice!

Relax, nothing to worry follow the measures as suggested you will be fine.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your query.

I shall make an effort to provide you with good professional recommendations specific to your questions.

This mentioned symptoms do occur post sinusitis, I would suggest you not to worry and relax, most of the sinus infection are causes by virus and self limiting.

I would suggest you to use steam inhalation, three to four times a day and warm salt water gargaling will be helpful in reducing your symptom.

Based on the information provided you don't require any surgery it is manageable with medicines. Follow the above mentioned measures you should be fine by 10 to 15 days.

Yet , again I duly appreciate your query to me, I do hope that have found something useful to help you and I shall be glad to answer any further apprehensions.

Sincerely,
