Posted on Thu, 4 Dec 2014
Question: My mom has high BP problems from last few years. She was taking Amploress AT few years back. Then on her feet there were some visible red and black marks. The doc changed her medicine to Telma H80.She was taking it from some 3-4yrs. From last year her throat infection(dry cough) started to last some months but it got cured. For 1-2months she again has dry cough problem. Her BP was lasting above 150 from few days. Yesterday she was prescribed Amlopress 5mg for high BP by a different doctor. The doc has written KFT, Lipid Profile, TSH tests. As I doubt Amlopress will again show side effects so should I give her Amlporess 5mg or look for another doctor??

Thanks for posting your query.

In my practice I have used Amlopress on lot of patients but have never come across any skin changes . But your mom's may be an atypical case and since your doctor has previously tried and removed Amlopress , I don't thin it's a right idea to restart it again since there are lots of other class of medications available.

I advise you to consult some other doctor or inform the same doctor that she has skin lesions after using Amlopress. A good alternative is Nebicard , ask your doctor for this.

Hope this information is useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask.
