What Causes Recurring Small Bumps On Various Parts Of Vulva?

default
Posted on Mon, 29 Dec 2014
Question: I have small bumps reacurring on various parts of my vulva. They are approx 3mm in size and most commonly appear on the labia minora on either side. They are hard and a flesh color. They do not burst and appear to be under the skin and then go away on their own. They are tender and can get itchy. I now have also developed one a little larger on the labia majora. They do not feel scaly, dry or blister like and appear on their own. Not in any type of cluster. They become more painful if I touch them. I also have notice tiny black spots on the labia minora near one of the lumps. They almost look like black head pimples. I have noticed at times some extra discharge but assumed this was due to hormonal changes throughout the month and also sometimes a slight odor. This sometimes worsens after intercourse. Is this an std or more likely cysts and a possible infection?

Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Well, it is very difficult to formulate an opinion without having a look at the lesions mentioned.
Would you please upload some clear pictures that show these bumps ?
I would revert after having a look.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thankyou. I have attached a picture of the black spots and the larger bump. The smaller on seems to have gone overnight .

First photo has the lesion close to my finger. Second photo has both the black spots and lesion. This is the best i can get. The lesion is on the left inside of the outer lip. The black spots are on the left as well. The bottom fleshy part of the inner lip. There is a small bump i can feel but does not show up in photos near the bacl spots. It is right at the end of the labia minora. Between this and the labia majora. Close to the opening of the vagina. The other bump was on the right side between the labia minora and majora also close to the vagina opening but it has completely gone overnight. It looked the same as the lump in the pictures .

Brief Answer:
PLEASE CLARIFY.

Detailed Answer:
I think the last picture 0000.jpg ( naming it for reference instead of mentioning vaguely ) is the most informative.
ON the right side, there is a small lesion - sort of like a mole or wart.
On the left there is one.
Which one are you alluding to ?

It is the small lump on the left side. The same side as the black spots. The mole on the right has always been there and causes no irritation .

Brief Answer:
THESE ARE BOILS

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Okay , the mole confused me.
The lesions are small sebaceous cysts - blockages of the hair follicles / sweat glands in the area.
Yes, basically a type of recurrent infection.
But not STD or anything serious.
Get your blood sugars tested in case of any recurrent infections, to rule out diabetes.
Shaving, friction during intercourse, synthetic fabrics on the underpants - these are some aggravating factors.
Avoid using any kind of soaps, gels, douches, perfumes, deos, talcs on the private parts.
Just clean with lukewarm water.
Please keep nails trimmed and clean.
After using the restroom everytime, clean from front to back.
Recurrent and persistent boils ( yes, these are simple boils on the labia ) might need prolonged antibiotics.
Take care.

Thank you. I should just leave them and they will go away on their own? Are the black spots just clogged pores?

Brief Answer:
YES.

Detailed Answer:
Yes that is what the black spots are.
You leave them, dont handle them, and mostly they go away.
If they recur very frequently, or get big / nasty, you need to consult a Doctor and get antibiotics prescribed for them.
Take care.
