Posted on Tue, 3 Feb 2015
Question: I've had head pressure on one side of my head for two years that comes and goes. It may last as long as 2 months then go away for a month only to return. Other symptoms with the pressure has been some dizziness. The pressure has not gotten worse. I'm taking flexeril and celexa which is calming my anxiety and relieving some of the pressure just not 100 percent all days sometimes it feel like the pressure comes and goes during the day. Now, I'm worried because I feel like I'm getting goosebumps on one side of my body. I've seen a neurologist several times that feels I'm getting migraines. My general dr feels I'm having tension and sinus headaches due to polyps in nose. What are your thought?

Brief Answer:
your general doctor is right, you need to consult ENT surgeon

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Your symptoms of one side headache, on and off with dizziness clearly suggest that there is some problem related to ear, nose or throat. This problem is creating anxiety as well.

If you have polyp in nose, it is almost confirmed that your problem is due to the same.

You have consulted neurologists and they had probably ruled out all significant causes.

Your problem is likely due to your nose polyp as well as sinusitis.

You need to consult Ear,Nose,Throat(ENT) specialist- otorhinologist for further evaluation and treatment.

Revert back to me with your reports like x-ray or CT scan.

Regards,

Dr.Chintan Solanki.

Thank you for your reply! My neurologist did not feel like I needed an MRI. He said that my neurological exam was normal and my headaches would have gotten progressively worse in the past two years. By getting goosebumps on one side of my body, does that mean I'm having seizures. I'm so worried that I have a brain tumor. I'm a true hypochondriac and have a lot of anxiety and stress.

Brief Answer:
Madam no need to worry much, please consult ENT Dr

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for follow up.

Your history of symptoms does not suggest any brain pathology.

It clearly suggest some cause localized to ENT system.

Your Neurological examination is normal.

above all aspects totally rule out possibility of brain tumor.

You need to go for X-Ray PNS(Paranasal Sinus view). It will show your sinusitis as well as polyp if it is there.

Treatment for the same is available and best doctor for that is ENT surgeon.

Do not misjudge your problem by your thoughts. I can understan that you are suffering since many months and that causes anxiety.

If you are too much frustrated and hypochondriac , you can be helped by a Psychiatrist also.Doctor can help by medicines as well as counselling. Celexa is at present given to you for anxiety. This also suggests that you do not have major problem.

In conclusion , no need to worry much. Consult ENT surgeon for your problem and if needed consult psychiatrist also.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
