Question: Hi my 17 years old daguhter has been complaining about GI problems. Her symptoms reappear every week or so. She has to pass stool about 4 times in a hour, feels nauseous, has cramps, becomes dizzy, and after that gets a heachache. this has happeded about 3 times within 3 weeks span. She has also been belching a lot, which is almost chronic and she has been taking lactaid because she is lactose intolerant. I will be calling her doctor tomorrow but i would still like to know if you would have any idea what these symptoms might lead to. My email is YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
Baclofen may help.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Going by the description provided it seems that your daughter has gastric problems precipitated by stress. There seems to be a component resembling irritable bowel syndrome. The lactose intolerance is also contributory. It would be advisable to avoid milk and milk products altogether. Taking Liofen (baclofen) [prescription medicine] can provide relief from both the muscle cramps as well as belching. Ask her to take very small gulps (quantity as small as possible) of water continuously from a glass. It will help in regularizing the gastrointestinal movements that have been disturbed.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
