What Causes Rashes Under The Breasts?

default
Posted on Fri, 12 May 2017
Question: I went to go with a burning rash that started under bust and then went to one forearm then the other , 1 ankle then the other , 1 armpit then the other . Dr says lichen planus as I also have it in my mouth - symptoms very typical of oral lichen planus . Got steroid cream and antihistamines which helped reduce burning sensation and softened rash .Went fir follow up and got a different dr. He says scabies and thrush in mouth and gave me oral steroids and lice treatment . I've not used lice treatment as I don't think it's scabies but have started the steroids . No other family members have any rash .
Getting really depressed by this as I've not been in any situation where I might have been exposed to scabies .

Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar (dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.
You seem to have extensive lichen planus. Though scabies is one of the differential diagnoses for extensive lichen planus but distinction between the two is usually possible clinically. Unlike scabies, lichen planus has violaceous, shiny lesions and may also involve mucous membranes. Both are itchy. I request you to kindly upload a few images in "Reports section" so that I am able to guide you better.

Brief Answer:
Lichen planus

Detailed Answer:
Hi. Thank you

Yes, it looks like a rash of lichen planus. I would suggest oral and topical steroids. In addition you may also take a tablet of cetrizine 10mg for symptomatic relief from itching.
