What Causes Rashes On The Face And Shoulders Along With Joints Pain?

default
Posted on Thu, 25 May 2017
Question: I HAD A DOUBLE VALVE REPLACEMENT 2 YEARS AGO. i ALSO RECEIVED A PACEMAKER. I HAVE STEADILY IMPROVED. I TAKE WARFARIN (5MG DAILY) I TAKE POTASSIUM CHLROIDE (ONE IN AM AND ONE AT NIGHT)...I TAKE LASIX (40 MG) ..ONE AT NIGHT
IN THE MORNINGS, I TAKE SPIROLACTONE AS WELL AS THE POTASIUM MENTIONED ABOVE.

THIS MORNING, I WOKE UP WITH A RASH ON BOTH SIDES OF MY FACE AND ON MY LEFT SHOULDER. i HAVE HAD THIS BEFORE AND IT WENT AWAY WITHIN A DAY OR TWO. THERE WAS A YELLOW LIQUID ON MY PILLOW...NOT SURE IF IT WAS ALREADY THERE OR NOT. (STAYED AT A HOTEL LAST NIGHT)
i AM HAVING XXXXXXX MINOR JOINT PAIN IN BOTH OF MY SHOULDERS THAT HAS NOT BEEN THERE BEFORE...DOES NOT FEEL LIKE IT IS A MUSCULAR ISSUE BUT A JOINT ISSUE. I ALWAYS SLEEP ON MY SIDE.

ANY THOUGHTS ON WHAT THIS COULD BE OR WHAT I SHOULD DO?

I WILL CHECK WITH MY DR OFFICE LATER TODAY.

Brief Answer:
Deranged PT/INR.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for choosing HealthcareMagic for posting your query.
I am a cardiologist and would be addressing your query.

As you are on wafarin. Your PT/INR should be checked regularly.Target PT/INR post valve replacement should be around 2-3.
Main problem with warfarin therapy is that it has to be monitored aggressively. If your PT/INR test result is too high, it means that your blood is clotting too slowly, and you are at risk of bleeding. Your dose of warfarin is too high. Rashes are a sign thast INR is deranging and doses of warfarin need to be altered again.

So i would suggest you to go to your cardiologist as early as possible and get your PT/INR checked.

Secondly potassium is highly toxic salt and is never taken in an unmonitored way. Hyperkalemia can even cause cardiac arrest. So initially get your potassium and INR level checked up.

Most likely their levels are deranged in your case hence causing problem.

Regards.
