What Causes Rashes On Head And Back Of Ear?

default
Posted on Fri, 21 Nov 2014
Question: I am having some sort of allergy for past few months. My Eosinophil count was marginally more.

I tend to develop rashes and red bumps on my head, back of ear and the location keeps changing.

Have seen a local doctor and have been treated for Eosinophilia with Banocide Forte (21 days) and Motek LC.

Currently I am comsuming Allegra to prevent these itchy rashes. However, with anti-allergic drugs the frequency and severity has reduced.

Brief Answer:
it seems allergic only.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
Since you are having response with anti allergic drugs, in my opinion it is allergy only.
Skin allergy are very common and triggering factor can be anything.
The basic rule of any allergy therapy is identification of allergen and if possible , complete avoidance of it.
Skin allergy can be due to anything like
Clothes
Food
Bed sheet
Work place related, etc
So try to observe yourself about this triggering factors. And if found, avoid it.
Wear cotton clothes, maintain skin hygiene and use cotton bed sheets.
I advice you to apply steroid creams locally on rash. This is very effective.
Allegra is only antihistamines. I advice you the combination of antihistamines and leukotrine receptor blocker. Combination has more beneficial effect.
You can also get done repeat TSH (if not done in 1 month) to see for thyroid is controlled or not. As in rare case uncontrolled thyroid can also cause skin rash.
So try to do some modification in your treatment as suggested.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Thanks Dr. XXXXXXX for your prompt reply.

I will certainly get my TSH levels checked.
Also could you suggest some Steroid creams for local application and an alternate to Allegra.

I tried Montek LC and that too is effective but makes me feel drowsy the next day. I had already tried Cetrizine, Levo Cetrizine. Even half dose of Levo Cetrizine :) makes me feel severely drowsy.

Kindly suggest some alternative which does not have such serious effects and can help me with my allergic problem.

Thanks,

Hello dear, thanks for your query.
Mometasone is a good steroid for skin allergy. So apply it thrice daily on rash.
Allegra M is having fexofenadine wiyh montelukast 10 mg. It will give you more benefit with out sedation. You can discuss about this with your doctor.
