What Causes Rashes Behind The Ears And On Torso?

Question: My granddaughter has a rash behind her ears and on her torso. She is fussy but does not have a fever

Hi,

I am sorry for the situation your granddaughter is facing.

From the photo you provided, I noted the rash and, as she does not have any fever, the rash could be due to allergy reaction to any food/drink she might have consumed prior to rash showing.

I advise to:
- keep her well hydrated and ventilated (fresh air, less humidity)
- give her OTC anti-histaminic med.

If the rash won't disappear, and if the fever will be present, should send her to
ER for immediate consultation; or ask to consult her pediatrician as soon as possible.

Thank you. This seems the most likely treatment. She did get a chicken pox vaccination about 10 days ago at her one year appointment. We thought it might be a mild outbreak.

Hi back my dear,

From what I have seen from the photo, the rash does not consist of fluid filled blisters alternating with red spots and hard crust, which is common in chicken pox infection.
