What Causes Rash On Back?

default
Posted on Mon, 30 Jun 2014
Question: What could be the cause of a grid like patterned looking flat rash occurring on a person's back after sitting outside leaning against a metal lawn chair on a hot day? The rash occurred when my husband was wearing a cotton shirt and it seems that he got burned by the chair. I have never seen anything like this before. The rash has persisted now for three days, only slightly fading.

Brief Answer:
Hydrocortisone and calamine lotion

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for posting on HCM.
I appreciate your concern about your husband's skin condition and i will make sure your query is solved in the best way.
From your description and history it seems obvious he has got kind of dermatitis secondary to extreme heat and perspiration or could be due to sun burns.
Nothing to worry as such because it will be fine soon with some medications.
Apply mild steroid cream like hydrocortisone and a calamine lotion twice a day over affected areas for few days.
Additionally, cold sponging will be very helpful.
I would still insist you to post some clinical pictures for better understanding.
Thank you
