Brief Answer:
Lesions over genitals and possible causes

Detailed Answer:
Hi

It is not necessary that the appearance of an ulcer or a scab over the genitals means that the person has a std only.
Ulceration and later on scabbing can occur even in pyogenic ulcers which is ulcers due to a bacterial infection or folliculitis which is infection of hair follicle of groin region or in many cases, scabbing can occur due to trauma especially after a dry and rough intercourse.
So we do not relate all scabs to a std.
It is important to elicitate the exact history in the patient regarding the possible cause of the scab.
Lesions due to std' s usually take a much longer time to heal and require a specific treatment.
