What Causes Random Pain In Elbow?

default
Posted on Thu, 10 Mar 2016
Question: Within the last week, week and a half and now last few days I wake up with random pain in my joints. First my left elbow last week, and then my left hip and this morning I can barely bend my knee and left hip is very sore.Sometimes it feels warm to the touch. My elbow pain was strange (just like my knee) came on suddenly, lasted a few days and was gone. my overall health is good, overweight but have an active life. I live in a region with deer ticks, but never pulled a deer tick off,and never had a bullseye mark, just a few regular ticks this Fall. I looked up fibermayalga but I'm not tired all the time just the usual. Then thinking it was RA but my hands, finger joints don't hurt or aren't swollen. Plus this was pretty sudden. HELP- Thanks!!!

Brief Answer:
Needs further workup for Polyarthralgia

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

Do you have fever, loose stools, rash on the face?

Are you a Diabetic?

You seem to be having Polyarthralgia. Causes of multiple joint pains could range from Rheumatoid arthritis, Gout, Seronegative arthritis like SLE as well.

You need to get tested to find the cause. Kindly do blood tests, Complete blood count, ESR, Serum Uric acid CRP, Anti-CCP, ASO and Anti-DsDNA. this shall narrow down the causes.

For relief, do continue with ice and Tylenol. Keep the limbs elevated of there is swelling. Eat a balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables. Keep well hydrated. Avoid alcohol, smoking and non-vegetarian food as these can aggravate Gout.

Get an Xray of the most painful joints and upload it for my review.

I hope you could answer the above queries of mine for me to be in a better position to help you.

Thanks and regards.
