What Causes Radiating Heartburn To Lower Right Abdomen And Stomach Pain?
Question: I recently started feeling some type of heartburn that seems to radiate to my lower right abdomen. This occurs when I eat something and sometimes when I heaven't eaten anything for a while. I also have a dull ache in my lower right abdominal area that I can sometimes activate by pressing down on the area. This dull ache comes and goes. Any ideas on what this might be?

I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely due to gastritis. Mild peptic ulcers also possible as hunger pain is more characteristic for this.
Taking proton pump inhibitors like Esomeprazole (Nexium) for 4 weeks duration will be helpful. This is available as over the counter. Avoid excess spicy , oily and junk foods. Carbonated drinks , coffee and alcohol also should be avoided. Take light meals at short intervals. You can apply hot water bags on abdomen while feeling pain or discomfort.
Some cardiac pain can gives pain on abdominal area also.So it is also better to have an ECG to rule out cardiac problems to be on safe side.
If there is no improvement or worsening then a consultation with gastro enterologist and fibrogastroduodenoscopy should be done to rule out peptic ulcer and any associated complications.
