default
Posted on Thu, 15 May 2014
Question: For the past few months I have had a pulsating feeling in my lower legs only noticeable while sleeping or sitting down. My primary physician has diagnosed me with RLS. I have noticed over the past few days that I am getting an occasional burning sensation in my calves. I do not smoke or drink and I am a runner who runs marathons and about 30-40 miles on an average week.

Brief Answer:
It is restless leg syndrome

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir,
I have read your case and I think your primary physcian is right in thinking that it is restlessleg syndrome. There is no cause for this disease but usually it is due to over activity of the brain. I would suggest you to get your serum B 12 estimation as some time this can cause RLS. Meanwhile I have following suggestions for you.
1. Try to sleep at a fixed time, avoid late night sleep. Avoid coffee in night time.
2. If you would be my patient, then I would suggest you Amytryptalin daily.
3. Capsaicin ointment local application will also give relief.
4.After B 12 test is done you can also take Methylcobal tablet daily.
I hope this answer will help you. Feel free to ask any other followup questions. Thanks and take care.
