What Causes Protruding Sternum In An Elderly?

Question: My 85 year old mother is having issues with her sternum. Small hooked shaped calcium deposits or bones are protruding for her sternum. Sores are appearing in this area which she believes are do to clothing rubbing on it. She had breast cancer in her 40's and had radiation treatment. Could this be osteoporosis...can a person have osteoporosis of the sternum?

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. This could well be due to uric acid crystal deposit and needs blood test for uric acid along with biopsy of hook shape structure.
To help you better please come back with reports of -
1.Serum uric acid ,serum calcium, phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase.
2.Picture of sternum,if possible.
