Brief Answer:
I will suggest you get evaluated given your age!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this persistent bleeding. Given your age, menopause onset may be a possible reason as hormonal changes set in. However, I will not want to arrive a such a conclusion without a proper examination and maybe an ultrasound to make sure that all is well. For this reason, I suggest you get evaluated by an OBGYN for the possible cause and to be treated accordingly. There are medications to stop bleeding but stopping it without understanding the exact cause at your age would be a bad medical practice.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Is it ok to take iron tablets before I see an OBGYN because of the constant bleeding. I thought also it has to do with the recent exercise am doing? I am also a Graves' disease patient BUT recently been eating right and healthily to help calm down my symptoms

Brief Answer:
Do you still take medications for grave's disease?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Graves disease could explain prolonged bleeding. Without much information to conclude on one or the other, getting evaluated by an OBGYN would be a great way to go.

It is very Ok to take iron tablets. This would help with the excessive blood loss.

I wish you well.

Another question I need answer to, is
Is there a problem when a woman has sex while bleeding (during menstruation) is it safe if the man does not use a condom???

Answered by Dr. Ivo Ditah (2 hours later)
Brief Answer:
There is no problem!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

There is absolutely no problem. The only concern is that you may not enjoy messing around with blood. With condom or without condom is no problem.

I wish you well.

I haven't been on any medication concerning the Graves' disease for about 3years now when I was first diagnosed with thyroid ism my T3, T4 and TSH had gone way up. So I was placed on carbimazole tablets for about 6months. I changed my diet and ate best of what was needed to turn down the levels and since then I've been able to control it's levels. Like I said I've never had this issue of bleeding steadily for so long except after having babies which didn't take so long before that aspect stopped as well
Except now that am experiencing insomnia during the night BUT I also make up for lost sleep during the day at the slightest opportunity. And I also workout everyday.

Brief Answer:
Would you want to get your Thyroid numbers checked?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this follow up questions.

Please, can you work on getting your numbers checked again. It is very uncommon to get graves disease totally well controlled by diet alone unless it was a transient observation or disturbance.

Has the bleeding gotten any better? Have you booked an appointment already?

I wish you well and keep me updated.

Thanks a lot for your concern. The bleeding STOPPED without a trace yesterday. (Also had the energy to have intercourse with my man - I pray I don't get pregnant coz I don't have the slightest idea about what my circle is like now) And I had just started taking the iron tabs been two days now. For how long do I have to take the iron tablets?? This morning I woke up with nipples tingling and sensitive to touch. Appart from that, I've got to do a thorough medical examination I will also have the thyroid numbers checked ASAP!!
My whole system is gone berserk

Brief Answer:
I will suggest you continue until you get a full evaluation but XXXXXXX 2weeks!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am very happy for you that this stopped altogether. Take the iron tablets fro at most 2 weeks. A blood workup would provide more information on what we should be doing exactly.

Keep me updated when you get the numbers checked. I wish you well.
