default
Posted on Thu, 23 Jun 2016
Question: After sinus infection, thrush, and prolonged cough, lower pulse, red throat on scope from stomach acid? Still limited to soft diet, 10 cups water per day, dry throat and sore. Is this from reflux? Fluid into mouth seems sticky and clear like saliva. Coughing since march 1. Sinus infection was February 2. Burn brings up smell of recent meds into nose. Bed elevated 45 degrees but back of mouth still has saliva - acid - mucus in night and in a.m.

Brief Answer:
Two possibilities, that need to addressed 1. Sinusitis, 2. GERD

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Welcome.
I have gone through your query and do understand your concern.
There are two possibilities for your present symptoms.
One Is sinusitis and other being GERD.

I would have done thorough clinical examination ( to check for GERD and bronchitis) and rhinoscopic examination of the nose for sinusitis. If required I would have asked for investigation like complete blood pucture, chest x Ray.

Presently based on the information, for sinusitis I would suggest you to drink plenty of water especially warm water. Warm salt water gargaling 3 to 4 times a day. Steam inhalation with few drops of eucalyptus oil in it 3 to 4 times a day. Lozenges like strepsil or cofsil few times a day. Need of antibiotic can be decided on examination.

For GERD -- Antacids like Digene or Gelusil syp, 2tsp in 50ml of water three to four times a day half an hour before food. You can also take capsule omeprazole 20 mg once daily empty stomach, before breakfast for a week. Probiotics like ecobion or sporolac will be helpful. Soft diet is good, but avoid spicy food, alcohol, carbonated drink, smoking if you do. Add more fibres to your diet, more vegetables, fresh fruits, restrict the intake of meat. Regular exercise. Avoind.lying down after meals, walk for 10 to 15 minutes after food. Eat frequent small meals instead of heavy meals. Do not starve.

Kindly follow this measures, there should be improvement in 15 to 20 days.
Hope this helps.
I'll be glad to clarify your further queries.
Take care.
