Question: These episodes have been happening for awhile.
50 yr old male, diabetic. long list of medicines for high blood pressure migraines and acid reflux.

We went out to dinner and I saw my husband sweat profusely on the top of the head, and he started tearing up and messing with his ears - he said his head started to hurt bad all of a sudden. Brief Answer:
Migraine and acid reflux casuing the headache

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Migraine are notorious for severe headaches and disabilities in daily activities. Also acid reflux can trigger headaches via involving sinuses and ears as you mentioned your husband had pain around ears and sinuses as well. So i believe acid reflux and migraine combined are causing this severe headache.

With proven diagnosed migraine, there is a long list of possibilities of treatment one can opt for. Abortive, preventive, advanced therapies , diet lifestyle modifications, non pharmacological therapies all can be tried. Botox injections can help. TMS devices can be worn every day. Keep a migraine diary, avoid all the triggers of migraine, knowing ones precipitating factors for migraine are very important. There are serotonergic patches available even that have proven benefits. Start lyrica , it will help as well. Let your neurologist decide which treatment option is best for your husband.

Apart from that, rest all the medications are necessary and for morbidities your husband have and need compliance to these. He will need follow up as well and frequent monitoring.

I hope it helps. Take good care of your husband and don't forget to close the discussion please.

Regards
Khan
