What Causes Pressure In Head, Forehead, Temples, Eyes And Nose After Head Injury?

Question: Hello, I am a healthy 38 year old woman. About 48 hours ago I took my children to the park. As I stepped up to do something I didn't realize some monkey bars were above my head. I stood up quickly and I banged the top of my head (near the back of my head) on the monkey bars and it hurt quite badly. A few hours later I started to feel a lot of pressure in the top of my head, forehead, temples, eyes and nose (almost like a sinus infection) which has not subsided. It feels worse when I lay down. I do not have a headache, just a lot of pressure. I get waves of nausea sometimes as well. I went to the doctor yesterday. She checked me out and said she saw no sign of brain injury. She kept saying that my headache would go away in the next day or so, but I kept telling her I do not have a headache, just pressure and she did not say anything. I am just wondering if the pressure I am feeling can happen after hitting your head and if I should be going to the ER or having a scan done? Also, how long should I expect this pressure to last? Should I see the doctor again in a few days if it does not subside?

Brief Answer:
CT imaging is not necessary at present

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
I have gone through your query and understand your concerns.
Head injury with the described mode is usually trivial in nature.
The danger signs of head injury are unbearable headache, vomiting, seizures , loss of consciousness, bleeding through ear, nose, motor weakness and visual blurring.
Absence of these features are usually reassuring about the mild nature of head injury.
For your complains you can take pain killers and local ointment.
You should be vigilant regarding above danger signs and symptoms.
You should consult a doctor again if tightness and pressure doesn't relieves in 2-3 days.
Brain CT is not necessary at present and can be done only if you are very concerned.
Get well soon.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Brief Answer:
Continue routine activities

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
You can continue your routine daily activities but better to avoid driving (atleast 1 week) as there is very minimal risk of post traumatic seizures.
It's rather a precautionary step than a actual risk.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
