What Causes Persistent Pain In The Left Groin Area?

default
Posted on Tue, 5 May 2015
Question: Hi. I was moving furniture in 2006 when I felt just a very faint 'pang' in my groin. I did an exercise boot camp about a month later and very soon was in a terrible amount of discomfort and pain. Every step was painful. I wen to a physio which didn't help, scans apparently didn't show anything, went to a muscular skeleto specialist who gave me trigger point therapy and was then referred to a podiatrist. I have a club foot, my right, which has left my right leg 1 inch shorter than my left. The pain is in my left groin. I found that getting my posture right helps but I still regularly feel pain.

Brief Answer:
Due to gait abnormalities.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The persistent pain in the left groin for so many years can be due to a persistent inflammation in the area or a torn ligament. If MRI scan of the left hip is normal then an inflammation is the most likely cause of pain.
In addition to potent pain killers and muscle relaxants, you need to correct the gait abnormalities with the help of your orthopedician. The extra stress on the left hip is the cause of pain. Do take calcium supplements also to help proper bone mineralization.
I hope this answers your query.
