What Causes Persistent Hip And Back Pain In A Patient With Connective Tissue Disorder?

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Oct 2015
Question: I have a burning pain on the end of my tail bones(sitting bones) both sides. Sometimes the pain is in my hips all around sides and back side (not in the back). The pain never stops or eases no matter what activity I do. I have not had any injury that I can remember. Prednisone helped for about a week and lyrica did not work at all. I have autoimmune connective tissue diaorder (lupus/srojens-undifferentiated) -- then told i have fibromyalgia. But this butt pain is my only symptom so I don't think I have fibromyalgia. This has been ongoing for 1yr. Do I need xrays, mri, or CT scan? Do you think this is muscular, tendons, joint pain? Any help would be appreciated.

Brief Answer:
A nerve related problem likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A burning pain at the end of tail bone that does not change with posture or activity is likely to be a nerve related problem. This can be related to fibromyalgia also as the pain is not restricted to a small area related to a nerve. An MRI scan can help in detecting any nerve root damage or compression. Do consult a neurologist for proper evaluation. Medicines like Pregabalin can help such nerve related pains.
I hope this answers your query.
