Question: I just started taking Ziac, first time ever taking BP medication. if I get a headache can I take excedrin or motrin? also how often should i check my BP? Can I drink coffe if its only one cup? can I drink a glass of wine or will that effect the result of the medication? Also if my BP is still high after taking it, is it safe to take another dosage?

Brief Answer:
no cannot take another dose

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Ziac is a combination of medications- bisoprolol and hydrochlorothiazide

Motrin is ibuprofen, it can slightly decrease the effectiveness of the bisoprolol aspect of this medication. The effect may not be significant if the medication (motrin) is not used too often.
There are different types of excedrin. It may contain aspirin, paracetamol, caffeine, diphenhydramin. It may have one, two or more of these ingredients

Aspirin (can be in excedrin), can also slightly affect the effectiveness of bisoprolol.

The motrin or excedrin can be used with the medication once they are not used so often they affect how well the medication can work.

In terms of the alcohol, you can use a glass of wine, that should be fine

With regard to repeating the dose of medication if the blood pressure is high, NO, this cannot be done. This is a ONCE daily medication
If your blood pressure is not controlled ,then your doctor would adjust the medication (add another or change the dose)

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
