What Causes Persistent Fever When Diagnosed With Typhoid Fever?

Question: My daughter has been running fever in range of 103-105 for last 4 days and now she has been diagnosed with Typhoid and is on medication for typhoid for last on e day, however, all of sudden she started shivering. Is it normal in typhoid or do we need to take her to hospital?

This is not normal in typhoid - need to check for Malaria or UTI

Detailed Answer:
Hi... high grade fever is common in typhoid fever but, usually it is not associated with chills and rigors. If this is happening we need to check whether it could be either Malaria or urinary tract infection.

I suggest you approach your pediatrician accordingly and get her investigated for urinary tract infection or Malaria as the fever is 105 degrees Fahrenheit.

If your daughter is still shivering with chills and rigors, please take her to nearby hospital immediately.
