What Causes Penile Rashes And Fever Inspite Of Normal Blood Tests?
Question: Hey doc so far i had three encounters with prostitutes one back in October 2013 and the others in the month of March. In december i had a penile rash went for the herpes and hiv test and the test came out to be negative ( after which i started developing some kind of symptoms like small enlarged lymphnodes, slight penile rash and slight fever. I did consult several doctors and went for several blood, urine, hsv 1 & 2 tests, hiv rna test etc all of which came out to be negative.
I am not sure why i did it but had protected sex using latex condom with 2 prostitutes in the month of march again. Now i have this on my penis as indicated in pic. Small blisters on my penis , one was healed and the other is still there.
Brief Answer:
Balanitis confirmed by picture.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for sending your query.
I am not able to see any blister in the picture you sent. What I could make out from that picture was, there is a local inflammation over your glans penis. This may even be due to some irritation or due to some abrasions caused during intercourse or an allergic reaction to condom.
Tests for HSV may not be always reliable. An history and a clinical examination is more valid to diagnosis Genital Herpes. If HIV tests were negative 3 months after last risky contact HIV can be ruled out.
An experienced genito-urinary physician or a Dermato -venereologist will help you in this regard.
