default
Posted on Mon, 15 May 2017
Question: hello doctor, this is for my wife, aged 32. She's having painfully burning sensation while urinating since today morning. She has been drinking sufficient water, but looks like it's not improving. Could it be a case of urine infection? Please suggest some medicine for tonight to relieve the pain, thank you.

Brief Answer:
she needs a check-up and a few investigations to clarify further..

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Welcome to HealthcareMagic,
I've gone through your query and understand your concern for your wife,

Well as you've quite rightly pointed out, yes, it's pointing towards a urinary tract infection only..

Please make sure that she continues taking adequate water (at least 2.5-3ltr per day)...

Additionally, she can take cranberry juice, which will be somewhat helpful in providing some symptomatic releif...for the pain she can simply take Tab PARACETAMOL 650mg thrice daily after food.. in case of severe pain/spasm despite this, she may take Tab. Hyoscine butylbromide (available as Buscopan) 10mg as stat dose and observe how she stays...

Please note that all these are just for symptomatic relief only(thus can only provide temporary relief).. for the complete cure, it's better to go for Urine routine microscopy and culture sensitivity examination along with a visit to your nearby physician for a prompt check-up...

In case she develops any fever also, and if symptoms don't improve within a few hours, please don't delay anymore and get her checked up by your local physician or any nearby Urologist for a clinical examination and investigations(as mentioned above, also she may need antibiotic therapy along with these in that scenario)..
