Question: My left calf is bruised from the knee to the ankle. It hurts (feels like I strained the calf muscle). It is warm to the touch. Is this something to worry about?

Brief Answer:
Yes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Yes, this sounds a little concerning. Your symptoms for sure indicate some inflammation in this region. Calf pain can sometimes point to veins thrombosis. That is why you should not wait with it at home.
I suggest you to consult your doctor as soon as possible. Blood work, d-dimers should be done at first. If D-dimers will be elevated, Dopplers veins ultrasound should be done as a next step.
Untreated deep veins thrombosis can lead to pulmonary embolism, so please do not ignore your symptoms.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
