he needs thorough check-up and investigations to clarify further..

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Welcome to HealthcareMagic,
I've gone through your query and understand the concern for your father,

First of all, please note that there can be several pathologies involved which may cause such swelling...so it'd be really helpful if you can upload/attach the doctor's prescriptions, the latest reports of investigations, scans etc. so that I can guide you further...along with it, a clear snapshot under bright light of the affected hand will be very helpful...

You can simply upload/attach them to the reports section of this web page...

The fact that the doctor's found nothing yet, warrants for further investigations and specialist's attention...

I'll await the necessary details in order to guide you specifically...

Take Care
Kind Regards

Brief Answer:
inconclusive details...

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back XXXXXXX
I've reviewed the attached reports...

The Doppler study has reported as no evidence of any DVT in the right upper limb so that rules out the clot related concern...

However, the other report (lipid profile) is within normal limits only, and the elevated blood sugars need to be controlled with aggressive anti-diabetic medications (which he must be taking already as mentioned earlier)...

The swelling can be due to numerous other causes(eg. lymphedema, cellulitis, erysipelas and several others) and needs a detailed clinical examination with a proper history and few other investigations(eg. MRI of the upper limb system, Chest X-ray, CBC, ESR, CRP, CPK levels etc.)...Investigations alone will not be sufficient, as he will be needing treatment based on the clinical findings under strict medical supervision...

As of now, you should consult with a general surgeon first, and get him clinically examined along with the relevant investigations in order to achieve the diagnosis first... the further course of treatment will be done based on those findings...

Not to worry, but go ahead for the further evaluations...

Take Care
Kind Regards
