What Causes Painful Spot On Thigh Along With Redness On Face?

default
Posted on Fri, 27 Mar 2015
Question: hello

I have a new spot on my thigh which I want to check if it can be herpes or warts. I had this before in the same region and attended numerous doctors who all said it is follicititus. This spot now stings periodically. (every 15 minutes or so). I include a pic. Can it be a normal spot or something more serious? I already did many STD checks and all were negative including for herpes. Can this test results all be incorrect?

Now it has returned. I also have a number of very small red dots on my groin which are not raised, just flat.

Last week I had very bad spots on my face but these have now gone. I am now just very red / hot in my face and neck. My doctor said I do not have high blood pressure and may have an allergy but cannot detect the cause.
I am also very hot and red in my face which I was never like this in my life before. Sometimes I need to urinate more often and my vision is blurry occasionally.

I already did STD checks and I am negative for diabetes.

Thank you
doctor

Brief Answer:
it is not wart or herpes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I read carefully your query and gone through the pictures you provided.

First of all, the spot on your thigh is not wart and doesn't look like herpes.
The fact that you have done a complete STD panel and they were negative ,excludes these causes.
These test are not always 100 % safe ,falls positive and falls negative results can happen but in your case there isn't any obvious reason to think of any of them.
Warts and Herpes lesions are very typical and this is not your case.

The spot might be a common folliculitis ,which is an inflammation of hair follicle. This is not of concern.

It is true that your symptoms might be due to an allergy and this needs evaluation to identify the possible cause.

Considering all your symptoms of :
-hot and red face
-recurrent and persistent bumps on face and body
-blurry vision
makes me think about a skin condition called Rosacea. Sometimes this condition can have very clear symptoms and the diagnosis is easy but in other cases the symptoms are mild and may consist in frequent flushing ,the presence of some bumps or pustules on face .
The cause of this condition is not totally known. Rosacea signs and symptoms may flare up for a period of weeks to months and then diminish before flaring up again. This condition can be mistaken for acne, an allergic reaction or other skin problems.
It also causes eye irritation like red dry eyes, burning itchy eyes, sensitivity to light.

I would suggest to consult a dermatologist and discuss this possible cause.

Hope it helps.
Let me know if you need further help.
