Question: I have been painful spasms between my breasts in the middle of my rib cage all day today. At first I thought I was having a heart attack but then I got a sour stomach.

Hello,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Painful spasms behind sternum could be esophageal spasms as you also had sour stomach after that. Sometimes there is no such reason for this kind of event to occur. And it goes away on its own as it came suddenly.
As you took antacid you have done right thing over there.
You might be having acidity like symptoms which may have resulted in the pain behind the sterum.
I would like to advice you to take tablet pantoprazole 40mg twice half hour before food. This will be available over the counter. Take this for 5 days and wait and watch.
If it gets better with this then well and good.
If it reccurs again then you might need a endoscopy from a gastroenterologist to see if there is something else that is creating problem.
