Question: My son hurt his foot skateboarding, is 17 yrs old, it's been 9 days since injury. We do not have insurance and have not seen dr. It swelled first day but after Icing every 20 min off and on went down. He has a lump and pain on inside of foot right below his ankle bone about 1.5 " from heel. It aches all the time but not severe pain. Do you think this will heal on its own? He's very active. Wakeboarder. Skateboarder. Lacrosse player

swelling subsided after first day but there is a lump. So there is not persistent swelling, unless a hard lump means persistent swelling. And if it is an internal tear, an internal tear of what?
