Question: I had surgery on my back and had a very pain rach on my back. I HAD TEST TO SEE what we were allergic to metal cobalt could was on top of the list. I broke out the day after surgery XXXXXXX 8. 2015 it itches and is very painful. We are at our witts end.

This may be an allergic rash. Besides metal cobalt you should also consider allergies to anaesthetic medicine or cleaning solutions used during surgery. Allergy testing should include them.

Further other causes of painful rash such as infection needs to be considered too. I will recommend you take an opinion from a dermatologist to identify the cause of rash. Until then discuss about steriod shots and antihistamines - they are effective against allergic rash.
